Phonics Screening

At the end of Year 1, children take part in a phonics screening check. The children are required to use their phonic knowledge to read 20 alien words (these words are nonsense words made up by different letter sounds) and 20 real words. Here are some for you to practice with your child.

  Help your child develop mental calculation skills, particularly in addition and subtraction. Dojo your child's class teacher if you need your log in information.

  Designed to help your child to practice and master their times tables

• BBC Bitesize Maths
  Help with mathematics and numeracy
